I believe I have sent the kids to school this entire week with hand, foot, and mouth disease. I swear I'm not a horrible parent. We just miss so much school every damn year. I really wanted us to get some good attendance going...especially with it being the second week of school. First, Sam was having some cold symptoms. I dosed everyone up every night with immunity boosters and extra vitamin C. No fever. Then Carlie had a sore throat and lots of sores in her mouth. I continued the immunity boosters and vitamin C. I talked to her about stress causing mouth ulcers. I told her that she should eat some yogurt. No fever. Last night Harry sneezed alot and told me he was getting sick. I put him to bed. No fever. So this morning after I put every one of them on the bus for the 5th time this week, Owen and I went to do some grocery shopping. As we pulled into the parking lot, he pipes up from the back seat, "I got a nipple on my finger, mom! I got NIPPLES...LOTS OF NIPPLES!!!" I thought he was probably trying to say "knuckle" but I decided to investigate anyway. Yep. Tell tale hand, foot, and mouth blisters. And that is what was in Carlie's mouth also.
So....to everyone in class with these kids this week, I'm really sorry....blame their immune systems for not running fevers and the school district for THREATENING TO TURN ME INTO THE TRUANCY OFFICER every year as the reasons I sent them to school with suspicious symptoms. I'm affraid we have exposed you all to the nipples!
